Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, my Dad personally coached me as part of the Dundrum South Dublin Athletic Club, where I was a 3-time Junior Irish National Champion (3K, twice in the 5K). Inspired by my Dad, I took coaching courses for a year, earning an Athletics Ireland Level 1 Coaching certification.
I accepted an athletic scholarship to The Univ. of Oklahoma, where I went on to become a 6-time All-American (3-times in cross country, 5K Indoors, twice in the 10K outdoors) and school record holder for 5K indoors and 10K outdoors. I earned a Bachelors in Music Education (1996) and also was an Academic All-American.
I ran professionally for Asics, Etonics, and Powerbar and was a music teacher for six years. After becoming a US citizen in 2002, I qualified for the 2004 US Olympic Marathon Trials, where I went on to finish 18th in a personal best time of 2:18:17. I’ve won or placed high in several marathons and elite road races, including being a 2-time winner and course record holder of the OKC Memorial Marathon, which still stands.
I’ve coached collegiately the past 6 years, including Oregon State University, Purdue University, and currently am the Head XC/Track coach at Oklahoma City University.
I have also coached privately, including my wife, Camille, who is a 2-time US Olympic Marathon Trials qualifier, with a personal best time of 2:38:23. We currently reside in Warr Acres, OK, near Lake Hefner.
If you would like guidance for achieving your running and athletic goals, I have the knowledge and experience to help you get there!
